About

The Karaganda Technical University is one of the leading technical higher schools in Kazakhstan. KTU was founded in 1953. Nowadays the University has 9 faculties –Mining Faculty, Mechanical Engineering Faculty, Road-and-Transport Faculty, Faculty of architecture and civil engineering, Faculty of computer technologies and system engineering, Faculty of engineering economy and management, Faculty of telecommunications, power engineering and automation, Military-Technical Faculty, Faculty of correspondence and distance learning; 6 support departments - Academic-and-methodological department, Science department, Strategic development department, Inner development department, Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Department of the youth policy; 34 chairs and other supporting and accompanying services. University trains specialists in more than 46 specialties. KTU has post-graduate courses in 29 specialties, 8 specialties of Ph.D. There are more than 10,000 students, about 700 teachers among them there are 90 doctors of sciences, professors, 36 academicians and corresponding members. KTU passed national institutional and international accreditation on many technical specialties. More than 2,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students annually participate in programs of external and internal academic mobility.  The university is located in seven academic buildings, the total area of which is 72,200 m². The university has 2 well-maintained dormitories and dining complex. The largest dormitory for students of KSTU was also built under the name - “Armandastar Ordasy”. The university has one of the largest libraries in Central Kazakhstan, whose fund has more than 1.6 million copies. KTU is basic high university in Kazakhstan on 27 technical specialties of a bachelor degree, magistracy and doctorate PhD. The work on international cooperation is carried out in the frameworks of more then 100 agreements with international organizations and universities from Germany, Great Britain, Switzerland, Northern Ireland, Hungary, Bulgary, Сzech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Italy. Since 2006, the University is actively involved in the European programs Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, Erasmus+ and international project Synergy in cooperation with Germany and Austria, is the basic institution in Environment and Energy Programs of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization Co. Since 2003, the University management system as the International Standard ISO 9001:2000.
