Shakarim University of the City of Semey, Kazakhstan

Shakarim Universityis a modern educational, methodological, scientific and cultural center of the north-eastern region of Kazakhstan. This is a multidisciplinary university with a wealth of experience, it was established in 1934.

The university has 9 high schools, where over 7000 people study in 45 bachelor's degree programs, 35 master's degree programs and 10 doctoral programs.

The university is working on the implementation of student-oriented learning, the development of a culture of academic integrity. Educational programs are aimed at both the development of hard skills and soft skills. Students are given the opportunity to acquire additional skills through minor programs. Shakarim University adheres to the principle of equal rights to quality education for all students, including those with special educational needs. The "Traveling Student" program has been implemented with three universities of Kazakhstan (NJC "Atyrau University named after H. Dosmukhamedov", NJC "Karaganda University named after E.A. Buketov", NJC "Pavlodar Pedagogical University") in order to increase the level of academic mobility of students.

There is a highly qualified teaching staff in demand, numbering about 1,000 teachers and staff, including 13 academicians and corresponding members of international and republican academies, 19 doctors of sciences, professors, 126 candidates of sciences, 40 PhD, 143 undergraduates. 32 university scientists are holders of the state grant "The best university teacher".

The university implements 17 grant research projects,   6 joint innovative projects with enterprises of the country (for example, Huawei Kazakhstan).

To ensure effective work at the university, an electronic document management system has been implemented.

Shakarim Universityhas a high-quality educational and methodological and powerful material and technical base. There are 12 academic buildings, educational and scientific laboratories and workshops with modern equipment, a scientific library with a rich book collection (more than 700 thousand books), with a media library and an educational hall, a computer parking (more than 1300 computers), a swimming pool and 2 gyms, 2 sports complexes with an equipped football field, 1 gym, a medical center with medical and preventive equipment, a student house, apartment-type dormitories.

Shakarim Universityis a large university with extensive international relations. It cooperates with universities in the USA, China, Mongolia, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Japan, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, Russia, the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine and the Baltic Coast countries. It is a member of reputable international organizations.

Shakarim University is the 8th in the ranking of universities of Kazakhstan – 2022 by scientific publications (IQAA-Ranking). According to the results of the National Ranking of demand for universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan – 2021, conducted by the Independent Accreditation and Rating Agency (IAAR), Shakarim University entered the TOP 10 best universities in Kazakhstan.
