Tunghai University was established in 1955 and is the first private university in Taiwan. Located on the level plateau of Taichung’s Dadu Mountain, it features a beautiful campus and significant architectural landmarks, including the world-famous Luce Chapel.
As a leading institution with a long tradition in liberal arts education, Tunghai currently has 9 colleges, 39 departments, 40 master’s programs (including 5 independent master’s programs), 16 in-service master’s programs, and 16 PhD programs (including 2 independent PhD programs). The 9 colleges include the College of Arts, College of Science, College of Engineering, College of Management, College of Social Sciences, College of Agriculture and Health, College of Fine Arts and Creative Design, College of Law, and the International College.
Tunghai has a student body of approximately 16,000 students and nearly 600 faculty members. The campus covers a total area of 133 hectares.
