Located in the Venezuelan city of Maracaibo, the University of Zulia is one of the largest universities in Venezuela. Having originally been established towards the end of the 19th century, the university was ordered to close for political reasons in 1909 and didn’t reopen until 1946. Today, the university offers degree programs across 11 different schools, covering subjects as varied as veterinary medicine, architecture, law, and seven different fields of engineering. Teaching is split across three campuses, two of which are based in Zulia State. The third is in the city of Punto Fijo, in Falcón State.
