Founded in 1886 by the Society of Jesus, the University of Deusto is located on two campuses – Bilbao and San Sebastian – and two sites: Madrid and Vitoria-Gasteiz. As a Jesuit University, Deusto is part of the IAJU, an international network formed by over two hundred Jesuit higher education institutions. The motto of its Strategic Plan is Deusto 2023-2026: Transforming our world together.
In December 2016, the Aristos Campus Mundus project, Committed to socially responsible and sustainable innovation, promoted by the University of Deusto, Ramon Llull University and Comillas Pontifical University -in a strategic alliance with the North American universities of Georgetown, Fordham and Boston College- was awarded the qualification of Campus of International Excellence (CEIR) granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport.
The University is divided into seven Faculties (Economic and Business Sciences - DBS, Health Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Law, Education and Sports, Engineering, and Theology) -reflecting its main areas of knowledge-, which offer 31 degrees and 15 double degrees, 46 Masters and 8 doctoral programs, taught through its widely recognized teaching-learning model.
The University also has a broad range of innovative continuing education, executive education and in-company programmes and specialist, interdisciplinary research that is firmly geared towards social impact.
The clear international orientation of the University of Deusto is reflected in the 527 collaboration agreements it has signed with universities around the world.
