The University of Messina (UniME) is located in Sicily, in the city of Messina. It was founded in 1548 an it is one of the oldest universities in Italy. UniME enjoys a long tradition as a driving force in the Mediterranean area and is strongly committed to growth as evident in its policy of internationalization and expansion. It has a strong international component, with agreements from all over the world. Exchange programmes, double degree and joint-degree programmes are all part of the international opportunities available to students. Because of the European Credit Transfer System, students may earn credits and take exams while they are studying abroad. The University has 12 Departments, 94 degree programmes including 12 taught in English. There are 15 Ph.D. Programmes, 21 Vocational 1-year Master degrees.
UniME currently has a student population of more than 15,000 students, coming from 70 different countries. There are 1100 professors, including 16 from foreign countries.

All degree programmes are taught by highly qualified professors with extensive international experience, they are job-oriented and students the possibility to carry out a traineeship in Italy or abroad.
