Walailak University

Walailak University (WU) is a comprehensive university, located in Nakhon Si Thammarat, that serves the people of Thailand and ASEAN. The University is comprised of 14 faculties, a graduate school and three international colleges. The faculties include science, engineering, medical and pharmaceutical sciences, nursing, public and allied health, arts & humanities, informatics, management, architecture, law and political science. WU is committed to excellence in teaching with programmes aligned to UK-PSF principles with over 240 lecturers fellows, senior fellows or principle fellows of the Higher Education Academy, the highest in Thailand. Close to 9,000 students from 19 different countries make up our broad and inclusive student body.

As one of only 14 universities in Thailand to be named a Frontier Research University, WU serves as an important center of research and innovation, tackling problems of global interest, and those of direct relevance to the local community. Much of this research is undertaken through WU’s 21 Centers of Excellence which cover fields from science to medicine to societal and ecological endeavours, often underscored by sustainability principles. Close cooperation between the University and local businesses helps to nurture small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Working with our international and local partners we aim to be a source of knowledge for critical problems facing the nation, to unfailingly address community needs, and to strive for international recognition for excellence.
