About

Yerevan State University (YSU), founded in 1919, is the oldest and largest public university in Armenia. Known as the country’s “mother university,” it has educated over 150,000 graduates. YSU has around 2,200 academic staff and nearly 14,000 students, including 470 international students. Instruction is primarily in Armenian, with some programs offered in English and Russian.

The university consists of 2 institutions, 17 faculties, and a preparatory department for foreign students, covering fields such as law, economics, sciences, humanities, international relations, and philology. YSU also operates a regional branch in Ijevan.

YSU is actively involved in international cooperation, partnering with over 270 institutions in 50+ countries. It participates in programs like Erasmus+, Tempus, and others. The university follows the Bologna Process and ECTS standards, ensuring modern, quality education.

YSU ranks #1 in Armenia and is recognized globally. Its academic year runs from September 1 to June 30.
